Honshu, Japan
This photograph invites the viewer to see the world through a different lens. The large, triangular tsunami blocks in Japan seem almost like giant jacks strewn along the shoreline, inviting the viewer to play and imagine. The black and white tones of the photograph add a touch of nostalgia reminiscent of childhood games and simpler times.
But as we look closer, we can't help but be struck by the gravity of their purpose - to protect against the awesome power of tsunamis. And yet, even in this solemn task, there is a sense of playfulness and curiosity.
These blocks remind us that we can still find joy and wonder in the face of the unknown. It captures that duality, inviting us to see the grandeur and the playfulness in the world around us.
